Third-Generation TCM Practitioner

Prateek Samwani — India’s Youngest TCM Physician

Co-founder of Balancepoint Chinese Med Clinic, Bandra, Mumbai — practising Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside Priya Samwani, and leading Balancepoint’s public education mission across India.

Who He Is

Growing Up Inside TCM

Prateek Samwani is a third-generation practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and co-founder of Balancepoint Chinese Med Clinic in Bandra, Mumbai, where he works alongside Priya Samwani.

He didn’t choose TCM. He grew up inside it — in a household where needles, moxa, and cupping cups were as ordinary as kitchen utensils, and where illness was discussed in terms of patterns and meridians long before it was discussed in terms of diagnoses. He absorbed the philosophy of Chinese medicine through proximity and attention, years before he ever read a textbook.

Training & Credentials

Training & Lineage

Prateek trained directly under Priya Samwani, drawing on her decades of clinical lineage and hands-on mentorship. Prateek’s own clinical training draws from Master Tung’s Acupuncture, the French and Chinese auricular systems, Dr. Voll’s EAV (Electroacupuncture according to Voll), and classical TCM pattern diagnosis, and he holds formal credentials as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner.

Clinical Role

Clinical Role at Balancepoint

Prateek’s real specialty is building a bridge between TCM’s language and modern medical terms — explaining patterns and meridians in words that make sense to patients coming from a purely biomedical background, so they understand not just what’s being treated but why. He teaches auricular acupuncture and other simple, self-administered TCM techniques through workshops, retreats, and corporate wellness sessions, alongside a clinical focus on emotional release, the gut-brain axis, and allergies.

Public Education

Public Education & Workshops

Beyond the clinic, Prateek leads Balancepoint’s public education mission — workshops and live demonstrations at wellness festivals, corporate offices, yoga studios, and community events, plus collaborations with skin, IVF, and orthopaedic clinics. His approach is direct, interactive, and deliberately non-intimidating. See upcoming sessions on the Workshops & Retreats page.

The Mission Ahead

The Third Generation

Where Priya built the clinical foundation and spent decades proving what TCM could do for patients in Mumbai, Prateek is focused on a different but equally important task: making sure the next generation of Indians knows this medicine exists, understands what it actually is, and has access to it. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Prateek treat at Balancepoint?

Prateek treats patients for chronic pain, musculoskeletal complaints, stress and anxiety, insomnia, and gut-brain axis imbalances at Balancepoint. He also leads initial consultations for people who are new to Traditional Chinese Medicine, walking them through diagnosis and treatment in plain, non-clinical language before their first session begins.

Does Prateek run workshops outside the clinic?

Yes, Prateek runs workshops outside the clinic as part of Balancepoint’s public education program, including festival demonstrations, corporate wellness sessions, and collaborations with skin, IVF, and orthopaedic clinics. To book a workshop or corporate session, contact Balancepoint at 9820886885 or hello@balancepoint.in.

What does “lineage” mean in the context of acupuncture?

Lineage means the direct chain of transmission from a master practitioner to their students in acupuncture. It is supervised, hands-on training that passes down not just technique but the deeper clinical judgment and pattern-recognition skills that typically take practitioners years of guided practice to develop.

Is Balancepoint’s clinical approach based on one system or multiple?

Balancepoint’s clinical approach draws on multiple systems within one coherent classical TCM framework. Priya and Prateek combine Master Tung’s acupuncture, the French and Chinese auricular systems, Dr. Voll’s EAV, and classical TCM pattern diagnosis, choosing the right combination for each patient’s specific condition and constitution.
